Saito Aya ( 1981 —)        Paintings without a frame — Visible Cadenza —–

Saito Aya was born in 1981, Tokyo. She is one of the promissing artists in Japan. She studied Western Painting at Joshibi University of Art and Design while majoring in Western Art in Japan. She studied oil painting. From this she has developed her own original expression, using oil techniques and various other media such as acrylics, crayons, and pencils.

She has said,” It is more natural to express things through drawing than through words.” Painting has become such a part of her life that she creates her works as naturally as she breathes and eats. These works produced without purpose or consciousness are like wild flowers in a field or birds singing in a forest. Her works stir the senses just as drizzling rain, a gentle breeze or new buds breaking in spring.

For me her works are like a pictorial Cadenza, in which she improvises in a “free style”. It is this that is when viewers strikingly become one with the player.

Her name “Aya” in Japanese kanji character means colouration. No wonder her expression in colour is original.

Saito Aya is holding her exhibition at Nagai Art Gallery for the first time. We are happy to welcome you to drop in the gallery to see new style Nippon Art.

Let me interpret her words;

There is no title on my work

I am not brave enough to mention it

I am waiting until the moment it comes up to my mind

I am not talkative, but my work talks better

Much better…

I love painting

I cannot stop but creating

I hope all of you enjoy Saito Aya’s world,

“You cannot stop drumming your heart, you cannot help seeing them in awe!.”

Fall completely in love with,  quickly fall in love with…….
